Possible to modify shift timings? ECU chip?
My previous car was an infiniti 2008 G35 V36 250GT. That thing felt so fast, even though it was only a 2.5L. It felt much much faster than the IS250, however it did have an extra 30HP.
But one thing I noticed is that with the 250GT, you just tap the accelerator and it downshifts much earlier on, possible by 2 or 3 gears. The IS250 however, I have to push my accelerator a lot further before it decides to downshift. this made the 250GT feel much faster and much more fun to drive. The 250GT felt like it really wanted to go all the time with no hesitation but the IS250 feels like it requires much more to shift.
I also drove the 350GT and the IS350 and the 350GT felt again much much faster because of the way it shifted and its responsiveness. The IS350 didn't feel much faster than the IS250, unless you floored it.
Is there anyway to modify the shift timings so the car downshifts much earlier when the accelerator is depressed? And make the accelerator more 'responsive'?
Cheers

Edit: I actually drove a q50 3.0t the other day and it did feel faster than my 350. Haven't looked into the specs yet but I'm really looking forward to some ecu and tranny tunes.😀😀

^Well, it should with nearly 100 more hp and 75 more ft lbs :
Model: 2017 Infiniti Q50
Horsepower: 400 hp
MSRP: From $48,700
MPG: Up to 20 city / 26 highway
Curb weight: 3,853 to 4,005 lbs
Torque: 350 lb-ft
Engine: 3.0 L V6
It is heavier though.

Well it 'feels' faster... and feels more responsive. The G25 also has a 2.5L V6 but man that thing just goes. 232BHP, and a 7500 redline, and I noticed one thing that makes it feel fast is just how quickly it downshifts.
IMHO, the IS350 for example (as said earlier) is faster than the G25, but I felt like I had to really push much further to get it to 'feel' like it was accelerating faster. The G25 in that sense just felt quicker than the IS350.

Here in NZ fuel prices are ridiculous, you guys don't know how lucky you are!
For our 95 (premium - I think which is equivalent to your 91), we pay 5.5USD per gallon. What are your prices currently like?

I wish they'd get it together on tightening the shifts up and getting rid of the ridiculously slow throttle response as well.
I guess that depends on which one he drove. There is two different renditions of the Q50 3.0T, a 300hp variety and a 400hp.
Our prices are in the dumps, about $2.75 for 93 around here right now. Of course probably half the oil industry is jobless as a result. I wish it would go back up, just not to $5.50 lol

50 extra HP! That would be great for the IS250. Wonder how fuel economy would be (say compared to the IS350).

Where I live regular (87) is between $2 and $2.20 and premium (91 or 92) is around $2.50. No complaints whatsoever and it really makes me worry so much less about driving my car lol

Not sure if this will apply to what you're talking about but Apexi makes a throttle " booster" for drive by wire cars. I was reading up on that a little bit. People who have them seem to really enjoy the improved feel. Other companies make them as well. Hope this helps.
