I have a 2009 lexus is 250 AWD. When it is cold outside (belowe 10 degrees) it will start and then die out after a few seconds. After about the third try it stays running. I had it to Toyota but they could not find the problem. Anyone had this problem and were able to fix it?

I'm going to guess it may be a problem with the Coolant Temperature sensor not sending the correct temp to the ECU to tell the MAF and Throttle body to open wider and dump more fuel and air in.

It wouldn't be hard to replace. Just unscrew it and screw the new one in and add some antifreeze back into the rad to replace whatever spilled out. Reconnect the wire and your good to go. Never did one on an IS but have done them on other vehicles.
Someone said it was on backside of the block near firewall on coolant crossover.
This isn't for your car but it will give you an idea of what is involved.
