Both front doors won't unlock.
hey guys this is very weird problem that lexus seems to have on very few vehicles but have not found the problem. My door and passenger side won't unlock with the fob anymore. I changed it to my other one (spare) same thing. now when i put my hand on the door to open it, it does not detect the key to unlock same thing with the passenger side. So i unlock my car and the only doors that unlock are my 2 rear ones. trunk works ok. I basically have to hold down the unlock for 4 seconds to open up my windows via the fob stick my hand inside and unlock it. very embarrassing indeed. has any body found the problem to this??

Do the front doors unlock when you push the unlock button on the inside of the driver's door? Do they lock automatically when you shift into gear and unlock when you shift back to park? Or do they only work if you physically flip the lock lever itself?
I'm wondering if the electric lock actuator mechanisms on both front doors may have gone bad.

does the key work to manually open the door on the driver side?
sounds like the door actuator. did they both stop working at the same time? or was it one side than the other?

My wife's '11 is250 is having the exact same problem...both front doors won't lock or unlock.
Dealer diagnosed and quoted both front door lock actuators @ almost $1600 out the door. Ugh.
Curious if these little motors worked or not. If not, I guess I have to go hunting for used or aftermarket locks.
Thanks for any help.

Did these little guys actually work and fix the lock(s)?

I ordered 4 of the "Flat-D" 10mm motors...I hope they're the correct ones for this car, but it's not a huge expense if they're not. I can handle the repair, I've just been lazy with her car and have been taking it to the dealer for it's basic maintenance. The car only has about 50k miles on it, and this is the first non-warranty repair that has come up. It will be a couple weeks before I do the job, but I'll report back if it goes OK (or not OK).

Interesting. I asked that question at the dealer yesterday. They didn't have any in-stock...Lexus or Toyota, so there was nothing to compare. I do have the Lexus part numbers as quested.
I'll check with the salvage shops today and see what they have to say.

I just wanted to follow-up and say that the little Ebay motors worked just fine for my wife's 2011 is250 awd. I just replaced the motors in both front door lock actuators and everything is working perfectly again. I ordered 4x of the "flad D" 10mm shaft motors so I'd have 2 for spares later on. The first door (driver's) took me about 1.5 hours since it was new and I was being careful. Once I knew what to do, the passenger front door only took about 45 minutes start to finish. Done like dinner.
Thanks to all who posted the helpful info above on the motors, etc.
