I wanted to get a manual IS250. Then I realized that the IS350 has 100 more hp and 2.5 seconds faster 0-60 and only a couple of thousand more. The positives of the IS350 was too great to ignore, the only downside being auto. The manual IS250 had 100 less horse power, almost 3 seconds slower, and engine sludge problems. You can see which has more positives. As for the G35, I looked at one. I didn't get it because 1, it's not has nice nor premium branded as a Lexus. 2, all the Gs I looked at the interior trim around the steering wheel was peeling. So for the Infiniti, less premium and quality but larger back seat, powerful V6, and manual. But the 2 negatives killed it for me.

I suggest you make a list of whats important to you and check off and compare.

I miss my 1999 A4 with a manual tranny. I just got a 2008 GS-350 AWD and I am very pleased. It is hard to find good, powerful sedans with great manual transmissions. I took one car out with a nice engine but a cruddy clutch. What a disappointment. I am happy driving a comfortable car with decent power and halfway decent performance.

I bought a 2006 is350. i have never driven a manual but i would love to learn how to. i was looking at infiniti g37s, although i always though the 2is was 100x prettier, but i was convinced by my family that a manual in lovely LA traffic would be horrifying. so i got the is350 and i love the power, looks, and comfort. and i was surprised that i beat a g37s one time. so im very happy with my car

The 350 will hands down be the fastest car on that list. Even if you get a G37s the IS350 is still faster. That car is seriously underrated. You can add aftermarket parts to the suspension to improve it (sway bars and coilovers have the biggest impact) and make it handle better than an IS-F. If you want more of a sports car feel, you can get an IS-F steering ECU to make the steering feel more like a sports car. So if you're looking for performance, IS350 is the way to go 100%.

I'm intrigued as to why you aren't looking at a G37S with a manual (handles and sounds better, 7500 RPM redline) Regardless, the G will definitely be the most driver involved / oriented car. It is basically a 350z with a much nicer interior. It has most of the 350z's 'sports car' feel and is a tad more comfortable for long road trips. Any Infiniti G has a massive massive aftermarket, so you can take your build in any direction you want. But I have to say, unless a manual is a must for you, the IS350 is probably a better bang for buck car just simply due to the difference in performance.

My biggest problem with the IS250 6MT is the power and feel. If it comes down to the G and the IS250, get the G and don't look back. Yes, you can basically do the same mods to it as the 350 but it really isn't worth trying to make a car like that any quicker. You'll spend too much money making a slow car not even as fast as something much better you could have bought. Not to mention, the 250 has that expensive to repair carbon buildup problem.

If the manual is a must, try looking for a G37S with a manual or a TL Type-S with a manual. The 37 is much faster than the 35 and has a new interior and engine. The TL is super reliable and is MUCH faster than the 250, and is easily the nicest looking car of all the ones listed..

SO to sum it up (From cars you chose):

Performance: IS350
Feel: G35S
Efficiency: IS250 / IS350
Aftermarket: G35S
Love the G35/G37s but after 100k they fall apart.

This is a really old thread, but I will weigh in for other people that may be in the market. If you really want a manual, buy the G37. If you want something that offers both comfort and performance, buy the IS 350. My last car was a 2018 Honda Civic Si (10th Gen), with a 6 speed MT, it was really fun, handled really well, but it wasn't very comfortable, and there were times I just did not feel like driving it, like when I was tired or in traffic. My wife also complained a lot about how loud it was, and how she could feel all the bumps on the road. Anyway I started looking at used IS 350's, IS 300's, G35's etc. Being a long time Toyota owner (since 1995), I always wanted an IS 350. Also my mechanic told me to stay away from Nissan. He told me after 100K they start giving problems. I can't speak for if that is true or not, but since he has a lot of customers who own Nissan and Infinity's, I kept up my search of IS 350's and 300's, and got lucky and was able to pick up my current 2010 IS 350 in prime condition and only 52K for a great price.

I would say IS 250's are great cars, but they are underpowered IMO, and for just a little bit more you will get so much more power and refinement from a 350. I would never buy one new though, let someone else depreciate it for you. I would buy one without hesitation up to 100K miles
