Default Stripped Allen Bolt (Intake Manifold)

I ran into a slight snag...

It seems I have a stripped Allen bolt on the intake manifold. Luckily, it is the furthest one back and most difficult to get to.

Any suggestions on how to get this one out?

In other news... seems there is also a broken 5 mm head broken off in another bolt in the middle of the intake.

Might have to drill it out given the area where it's located.

Any tips or insight to the procedure?

Get a drill bit that fits inside the hexagon. Make sure you keep it straight while drilling. The key is to basically drill the head off to separate it from the stud itself. You will probably need to use a slightly larger bit after a few minutes of drilling.

Noted...

Nonetheless, it all worked out.

What is the theory behind these? Do you pound these into a stripped head?

One of my bolts on the manifold is a little difficult to get in and out.

I checked the threads on the bolt and they don't seem damaged, but is this something I should be concerned with?

Everything else seems easy to take out by hand after the initial "unlocking" of the bolt.

If you have difficulty with putting a bolt in (but it came out easily), that means the bolt isn't seated properly and the threads aren't aligned. Make sure its the correct bolt and back out and try again until it goes in smoothly. You don't want to cross thread and then having a bigger problem.

Currently, going both ways seems to be difficult, but I have to use a tool the entire way. I am picking up a new OEM bolt and replacing it with that. The bolt doesn't seem to twist or do anything funny, just 'difficult'.

Notice any residue at all on the threads of the bolt or the hole? Blow it off/out if you can.

Any corrosion on threads?
Wipe a THIN film of oil or grease on 1st few threads.
