Is250 Transmission Diagnostics Partial Guide
This is a guide to help you test your transmission for the IS250 with Asin Warner A960E Transmission.Parts of this may work for other vehicles as well such as a IS250 or GS300. This is not a complete guide just a hint / cheat sheet. To help determine readings and values. Things you will need:Multimeter with some fine tips between paperclip to needle size. Set to resistance Pressure Gauge
Techstream software and MCVI10mm Socket and maybe extention to open ecm housing.12 or 14mm socket to open trans pressure port Flat head screw driver Jack and stand or lift to get under the car.
Pressure Test ( This might determine if SLT working correctly)Hint: Port located on the passenger side door RH vehicle. Mid center above the pan. Uses 12 or 14 mm bolt. Two TypesActive Test uses tech stream. When SLT turned off line pressure should go up. No action while ON.Hydraulic Test Tests Car while car on in normal operating temp 122 to 176F . Don’t let the hose touch the exhaust or it will melt it! Solenoid values at ECMHint: E4 connector is the second of the right. Use a long flat head to help loosen the connector. The other series of connectors you will see the blue connectors. There is a tab also colored blue holding it to the support bracket. If you push hard toward the passenger side, it will allow you to move that piece and make connector removal easy. It will also allow you to remove ecm without removing the other wiring harness
Solenoid values at Trans WireHint: This value should be compared to the initial ECM wire reading. This could help determine if either set is defective comparing it to solenoid values.
Solenoid values at Valve BodyHint: For one pin solenoids connect negative to the tab where the screw went in.
Active Test with TechstreamHint: Solenoids might make a noise. Changes in voltage, changes in temperature will let you know its doing something.
