HID Assembly Replacement/Update for 2006 IS350
One of the HID ballasts has failed on my 2006 IS350. The dealer wants ~$1150 for the headlight assembly alone (parts cost). I have found an OEM replacement assembly for ~$586 (1A Auto, Part #: 1ALHL02444, includes adaptive light control) that is my leading option at this point. I do not want to replace the ballast by softening the glue allowing the assembly to pulled apart, as is shown in a number of youtube videos (due to concerns regarding moisture after resealing it). While tearing things down, I am considering updating the headlight assembly to include LED running lights if I could find a reasonable aftermarket replacement. Note that HID is a must but I am willing to give up the adaptive control. I have found a number of options online but after looking more closely and speaking with a rep at two different suppliers, they do not suggest replacement of the factory HID units with the aftermarket units - they say it is only compatible with original halogen units. This is frustrating as the sites are not clear and show their products compatible with my car model and year. Do you have any suggestions? Although I would prefer a direct replacement I am not afraid of making wiring harness modifications, provided there are clear instructions available. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Note that my car is black with heavy tinted windows - otherwise stock at this point. Thanks.

The OEM assembly is the only one with AFS, so your choices are limited if you want to keep that.
You already have HID's so you cannot use the kits that update halogen to HID's.
Which puts you back to OEM lights, but from a newer model year, which means replacing both lights

Okay. Buy a replacement ballast on eBay amazon etc. you don't have to unseal the glue to remove the ballast.
you will need to remove the bumper to access the headlight. Vids on youbute how to do that
from there take the headlight out, you will remove the 3 screws holding the bracket on, from there you will have 4 screws holding the ballast...unscrew.
tfrom there take off the hid dust cap to undo the hid light connector from the light...that mesh wire is connected to the ballast you unscrewed, you will have enough space to fish the connector down the headlight out a hole the ballast was covering....
take new ballast...fish up the connector...res crew ballast...then light bracket and do everything in reverse order

the HID ballast only affects the HID bulb. The led strip, daylight running/high beam, and turn signal are different wires.
All HID ballasts are interchangeable
