Hey guys,
I am trying to determine what the problem is with my audio system. It started off with cracking/popping sounds from the driver side speakers and the audio would cut in and out ( I noticed this happening after a particularly rainy or humid day) Checked the amp (pioneer) on a few of these occasions and it would be completely dry however if i unplugged it for a few hours it would work after plugging it back in. Brought the car to an audio shop and they believed it could be a failing amp but could not verify for sure it was not a water issue. Well as of right now- I have no sound whatsoever and I cannot adjust the volume on both the navigation and the steering wheel controls. No sound in AUX or CD settings either. I'd buy a new amp but i'm not so sure it would resolve the issue if its a shorted speaker or water issue. Anyone else have a similar story with solutions that worked.

These exact symptoms have been described by various members on here with the same issue being moisture finding its way into the trunk compartment and screwing with the amp. I'd definitely suggest pulling the amp and figuring out how moisture is getting in there. If unknown, try a product called Damp-Rid to pull moisture out the area. More than likely, you'll need to source a new or used amp, as the current one is probably now messed up and hitting "protection mode" to prevent a melt-down.
