The IS250 is prone to engine slush. This is a known issue. Do a forum search. Consider the IS350. That engine is bullet proof. It's also 2.5 seconds faster 0-60.

So is there anything that a person can do? I bought a 2012 is250 that seems to suffer this. I have a 2001 is300 and it gets the 2012s butt.

If you're getting a 250...just know about carbon buildup.

I have 2...one with 110....one with 165k

Did walnut blasting on both and I've got no worries.
You can also install a catch can, but I'd rather just implement a walnut blasting (400 bucks) every 40k and be set

84k isn't considered high mileage just yet for most people... As others mentioned I would look at 350s if you don't want to deal with the carbon build-up.

Default Look I have an IS with 126 K

and no (known) problems
You're gonna have to take off your euro/VW glasses and realize there are many cars that are just getting broken in @ 100k.
The IS' CBU is a problem, I haven't had it yet. If you like the IS250, then buy it
Low volatility oil (NOACK), high quality fuels, drive it like you stole it.

Good gas mileage, good looks and great handling are your paybacks

As others said. The IS250 won't have nearly as many problems as the VW did. I'm of the people who say to save the money and go for a 350 (just because extra power, about the same fuel efficiency, and no carbon build-up) but if you have your mind set on the 250 then go for it. It shouldn't give you many problems so long as it is taken care of. Good luck!
