Default TPMS warning - false alarm

Hi everyone,
My 2008 IS250 just starts throwing the warning low tire pressure light. I checked tire pressure for all tires to the correct specification (35 psi front/ 38 psi rear). I did the tire pressure initialization process (6 steps below) but that did not help:
1. Make sure all tires are at the correct pressure with the car off.
2. Start the engine.
3. Press the "ON/OFF" switch below the instrument panel brightness *** and tap the left/right on switch until "TIRE SELECT" appears on the little computer screen between tachometer and speedometer, make sure the right set is selected (MAIN or 2ND).5. Now press left/right until "TIRE PRESSURE" is displayed .
6. Hold down "ON/OFF" switch until "PRESSURE INITIAL" appears (3+ seconds).

What is the next steps for me to check?
Thanks!

If the TPMS battery is dead, then should I receive a different message like "check system" or something?

here is what I found:
Tire gauge showed 35 psi on one (right-front) of the tires, but Techstream showed only 28 psi on this tire. I guess something wrong with just that one TPMS sensor.
Thanks all for your suggestions!

I think that only happens if the car does not detect any sensors. That's what happened when I put new tpms sensors on my new wheels w/o getting them programmed.

No, pretty sure the OP has it right. "CHECK SYSTEM" means that one or more sensors are not being detected. "LOW TIRE" means that one or more of them is reporting low air pressure.

I had a bad sensor on my RX and the TPMS light would flash for about a minute when you first start the car before it becomes solid. Don't know if the IS is the same.

Two weeks ago I did have a flat tire on my IS. I put the spare on and dropped the tire off to be fixed. All the time I drove around, the TPMS light was on. When I picked the tire from repair, I put it in the trunk to go home and put it back on. With the tire in the trunk, the TPMS light was off. This makes me think there is a sensor for the spare tire. I know the RX does have a sensor for the spare.

Don't know about the RX, but the IS has no TPMS sensor in the spare, 100% for sure. (Just look at the valve stem - it's rubber)

The RF range of the TPMS is enough that it picked up the signal when the tire is in the trunk.

Yes, the spare is a skini-mini-compact!
