Only thing holding me back from buying a 2006 IS
There aren't that many Lexus vehicles around in my country so I have no luck finding answers locally.
I am considering getting a 2006 Lexus IS but I was a bit scared when I saw that those vehicles might have fatal steering wheel problems. Is it really a known issue where the IS steering wheen locks up mid drive?
I saw it here youtu.be/2N41fujuOUg
It is literally the only thing that is keeping me from getting a 2006 IS.

i have never heard of this "fatal wheel lock".
if you have a good buying opportunity for a nice 2006 Lexus IS, i would urge you go for it. the car is nice and reliable.

Runs like a champ, I think its time for new front shocks, 62 K miles.
see is that car had the recall done on it, take the Vin to a dealer and have them check if you are worried.

The real issue you should be looking at is whether to buy the 250 or the 350.
If the 350 is available, DO IT.
The 250 apart from being slow, also suffers from the potential carbon build-up in the engine.
The 350 doesn't have these issues and the car screams to red-line.
I've owned some decent performance cars in my time and the 350 genuinely surprised me with it's capability.

I agree. I love my 350! Super comfortable, good performance and reliability. I've never heard of the steering wheel problem you described. Just some air bag recall issues on some cars.
