Battery or not...
No start – maybe battery –maybe not
My IS is not a daily driver and it is expected that the battery would need trickle charging, which I am doing. A couple of instances, I was not able to start the car. In one instance, I had to jump start it.
So I figured it may be the battery. I returned a 2 year old Interstate battery at Costco, got a new one, 100% credit on the old.
Last night I turn the car and it will not crank. Then I got the message on the dashboard “the brake has to be stepped on when starting the car.” On the next turn I jammed the brakes and it started nice.
Is this perhaps the brake switch issue? Should I also look at the main fuse?

Update: I have been using the IS to see if the no start happens again. This time I am making sure that I fully depress the brake pedal. So far so good.

Did you have the older battery tested? Kinda hard to say for sure, but on my IS, I really don't have to press the brake pedal very hard. If you watch the start button while slowly pressing the brake, when does the light change from orange to green indicating the car can be started. My only takes basically the weight of a foot like when you need to shift out of park.

I will take you advise and watch the orange to green...thanks. And no the other battery was not tested. I would assume that it would check good, it is not even 2 years old.
