Default wheels rubbing

i just upgraded to 20" rims with 225/35 tire from a 17" and 225/45 tire. i really dont have any knowledge about this stuff and figured the wheel guys would pick the right stuff for me. i can hear it rubbing when i turn, i think the back of the tire is rubbing on the lining. ive seen people say just let it rub through, a friend told me i can cut it with a blade...any suggestions? ill go back to the wheel shop today and see what they can do for me in the meantime.

That's a huge difference in size! I imagine you will have to roll your fenders at the very least to be able to fit that.

What is the offset on the new wheels?

Not sure I'm reading that right, but that would be the wrong offset for a Lexus IS. Does the wheel stick out further then the fender?

Definitely should of looked into it more before deciding to add 3 inches in rim size. I have seen 20s before, but there is usually going to be modifications done before just adding the wheel. Google is your friend before making these decisions.

Some common fixes:
- Heat gun on the lining.
- Fender rolling.
- Change wheels.

You can remove the liners. 20" isn't the problem. It's the offset. The tire ratio and rim size are fine.

Options are heat gun on the lining or rolling the fenders. You could also go 225/30/20 tires instead, but still probably have issues.

20's will usually be less comfortable. Higher chance of blown tire with small side wall. Rubbing/turning issues. Difference in speedometer and mileage due to not being the same as stock.

I would have the shop deal with it if you don't know.

Rubbing for sure. Try the heat gun method just make sure you don't burn a whole. Also is the side skirt going to be rubbing also?

your tires are too tall.

17" - 225/45-17
18" - 225/40-18
19" - 225/35-19
20" - 225/30-20

rule of thumb is, for every +1", reduce aspect ratio by 5.

so, instead of 225/35-20, you should be running 225/30-20.
