'12 Nav: Coordinates correct, Address WAY off
So I couldn't find a thread where anyone else stated what I am experiencing so I hope this is some abnormally that can be corrected somehow.
My house number is 516 on my street. The highest number on my street is like 520. When I pull into my driveway and press mark, it tell me I'm at 572. There is no 572. The street is right and the coordinates are sitting right. Where the heck is it getting these house numbers from.
Another thing. This morning I decided to add my work and just for giggles I input the address in the Nav from my driveway. It directs me accordingly and gives proper turn-by-turn and street names. As I'm about 1/4 mile from my work, it says "You have arrived". I get to work and park. Mark the spot which looks correct on the map and it says I'm at number 800-something. The address is 400.
How are the maps this eff'd up? No address seems to match the actual location. Thank goodness I know where my home and work are. Given these problems and navigating in a unfamiliar city, this thing would be absolutely useless. Any ideas?

I found this to be the case on my 2012 is250 awd too. I assumed it was not currently up to date and didn’t give it much further thought. In my opinion, the navigation is kinda pointless due to these issues. It looks nice though . For all intensive purposes, Apple maps or Google maps are much more effective, easier to use, and ALSO provide real time traffic/accident awareness. Just my $.02

Appreciate the feedback. You're right, it looks cool and everything, but would be rather embarrassing for someone to witness the inaccuracy of the thing in a $52k car. I mean it's already so difficult to use and then to be so inaccurate. Lexus should be embarrassed, but I know from my wife's '16 RX350, they never learned.
So has anyone tried an update to see if it's corrected? I don't think mine has been updated since it was new. I'm #2 owner.. I'll me taking it in for the 20k service in a week or so and intend to ask the dealer WTF?

From what I recall, the locations are more accurate for the businesses, landmarks, and others places in the POI (points of interest) database. For addresses not in the POI database, it appears to know the range of house numbers on a street segment, and make the assumption that the houses are evenly spaced. Granted, my car has an older (generation 5) navigation system than your car, but it sounds like that algorithm hasn't changed.
Like Nespo2330 I much prefer the cloud-based smartphone apps (I prefer Waze over Google/Apple maps) and tend to choose them over the built-in navigation for most trips.

If that were the case, I'm sure it would be much more accurate. As I said, the Nav thinks my house is #572 when it is #516 and the highest number on our street is #520. There is no room for that many houses on our street so whatever algorithm it is using is woefully incorrect. I just don't get it. Don't they get their maps from some 3rd party? My Garmin has never failed me in my truck and, yes, Apple and Google maps are dead on in my experience. It's just really disheartening to think Lexus still thinks they can make a navigation system.
