You need to read the diagnostic trouble codes with an OBD2 reader. Many auto parts stores will do this for free, or you can buy one -- there are inexpensive units on eBay and Amazon. Without knowing the code(s), we'd just be guessing.
The most common cause of a check engine light is probably a loose gas cap, so you may want to check that one first.

Same happened to me last month, mine turned out to be Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor. I think whenever there is an issue Lexus is always like that it turns off the VSC and brings up the check engine light. Put it on the computer and read what the code says. Enjoy buddy

Same thing happened to me a couple weeks back..
All my fault, I did a scan and it showed the engine leaning out.
I removed the little resonator off the intake pipe and what I was using to block it off was letting air in.
Like the others have said, you need a scanner.
I'm using a cheap bluetooth OBD2 scanner and Torque App on my phone.

Whenever there is an issue with anything engine related on Lexus IS(At least, its confirmed) the check VSC lights up, people mistake it and starting throwing money at the VSC fix and it wont fix anything, get it scanned first and you will know what exactly is causing it. ECU tends to shut down the VSC when there is any abnormality in the system. Don't continue driving it like that it might be serious issue and it might not be
