Lexus IS350 Radar Detector Mirror Tap Installation
Latest little project. Wanted to install a Radar Detector. Quite easy, whole thing took about 20 minutes. Bought the following from Amazon for around $285.
Uniden DFR6, Power tap Kit and Rear-view Mount.
Remove Mirror T-20 Bit. Removing Rear View Mirror Installing Radar Detector Mount Tap cable ( RJ-11 Cable with built in fuse) Attach Radar Detector Side Taps to Tap Cable(slides on and then you heat shrink to keep them connected). Orange is Positive, Blue is Negative. Slide taps between inside of plastic connector and cable. Reattach Mirror Adjust Finished Installation. Works great.
I dont know if you use your sun glass holder but it looks a lot cleaner if you tap in through there and attach the rader with some double sided tape. This way you dont have anything hanging off your mirror.
Thanks for the suggestion. I live in DFW, TX. and double sided tape wouldn't work here. Suction cups don't work here. There is too much heat here even with tinted windows and front windshield cover reflector. The car is black with a black interior so that doesn't help either. I wanted the detector to have a good view out the back windshield for 360 detection. You can't see the detector from outside of the vehicle which is nice. You would have to put your face up against the window to even know it's there.

+1
i live in the DFW also, and have the set up on my wife's G37. Thanks for the DIY on the IS.
That's exactly how I have mine mounted (Redline). There's an older DIY thread that was posted somewhere on here. Leos will still see it if they pull you over. Ask me how I know.
