Default Traction and Check Engine Light

Stopped for gas last night and got back in and engine was immobile. Security light flashing. I looked in book, called dealer, tried all kinds of stuff and ended up waiting a half hour and trying again. It started. however now the check engine light and traction light are on. Is this something stupid like my gas cap and how do I reset?

Don't worry about the "Check VSC"; it comes on any time the check engine light is on (because the car disables stability control when CEL is on). Best course of action would be to buy an inexpensive OBD2 code scanner or bring it to an auto parts store like AutoZone; they'll read the codes for free. The OBD2 scanner can reset the light, or you can just disconnect the negative battery terminal to do so.

it MAY be a loose cap.

It may be a broken gas cap (there is a one way air vent that can plug up)

Sometimes if you fill up the gas with the ENGINE RUNNING, it can suck liquid gas into the vapor recovery system (which is why you turn off the engine when filling up)
