New IS 350 Owner - Did not realize AWDs were actually "rare"
I just purchased a 2013 IS 350 AWD with 45K miles and will be picking it up/driving it home in a few days. To say I am psyched is an understatement. I'd been looking for a while and thought I was going to get a 250 but I ended up convincing myself to get a 350 instead. The lure of the extra 100HP and the fear of the (potential) carbon deposit issues were enough to change my mind. I'm in Denver so AWD was a must on my list for the mountains, etc., (the HP helps going up the big hills, too). I ended up finding a 2103 AWD in MO so I will be flying in/driving it home. Of course I've already been lurking here and reading as much as I can. It's great to have an enthusiast community like this one.
To get to the point, I was just reading a post that had a link to US production numbers and I'm having a hard time believing that only 109 of the 2013 AWD IS 350s were made? On the one hand, saying I own 1 of 109 is cool but I'm guessing that folks looking for a performance sedan aren't looking for AWD? Denver is literally overflowing with xDrive BMWs and I could have had one of them for a song but the cost of ownership is way too high. My buddy just spent $600 on a kidney bean shaped battery.. yeah, no thanks.
Anyway - I'm rambling now. Just wanted to get my first post under my belt!
Here she is - I think I'm just going to add a factory spoiler.
Looks in pristine ondition. Yes get a wing it will make it look more sporty. I got my wing off eBay came painted to match my car. It' not like the OEM with 3 bolts. You will need to attach it with double sided tape.
The thing is that 2013's by themselves are already rare as they were only produced for about half a year before the 2014's started being produced. So you've got a rare version of the car during a rare year of production.
I think a lot of people that had been waiting and/or holding off getting an IS350 because it didn't come with AWD got one in 2011 when they started being produced.
I spent two years trying to find a 350 that wasnt white or silver (nothing personal OP). Got super lucky finding the 2013 having the F-Sport option when it mattered. Production date is 2012-11 so having this year with all the kinks worked out is a blessing.
