Please Help, my heat is not working in such cold weather
Hello guys, need your advise and help on this cold weather, I got my 2007 IS 250 in the summer and now when winter comes, the heat is not working property. The warm air only blow out from the vent when I am on the high way and drive fast enough around 40mph, when I am driving local it just blowing cold air out. Any idea on what might cause the issue??
The car is on 128000 miles now.
Thank you so much

Top up your coolant and check for any leaks.

Hello guys,
just got a chance to take my car into the shop and have the mechanic to look into the issue. From what he told me there are 2 issues.
1. Bubble in the coolant, which he said is cause by the leak on the head gasket.
2. The radiator circulation issue, where one side blow hot air and one side cold air.
He did help me flush the coolant and the car have heat now, and let me know it would take around $3000 to $3500 to get it all fix.
When he did the inspection he told me the coolant reservoir was empty already, but however my car is not over heating at all even when the reservoir is empty.
Since I don't have the money to fix it now, he suggest that I always top up the reservoir and keep close eye on the temp gauge.
My questions is
1. will the leaking eventually lead to blown head gasket?
2. should I get another mechanic to look at it to make sure it's the head gasket leak but not the tube and other stuff?
Thank you guys for the advices.
