Default HID Issue

I’ve had a HID conversion kit installed for many years now with no issue. Recently the passenger side HID went out. First I thought it was the ballast since I couldn’t hear the hum when it is on. This has happened before. So I ordered a new ballast and replaced it. However the HID will still not turn on. After further inspection, I found that the bulb blew (damaged) so it needs to be replaced. I thought that was odd. After I received a new one I replaced it using the new ballast. Still nothing. I swapped to the old ballast and still nothing. Could not hear the hum on both ballasts. I checked the fuse and it is good. I even swapped the fuse with the driver side which works but still nothing. At this point I’m thinking the passenger side is not getting any power. I’m waiting for a volt meter. In the meantime, is there anything I missed?

I installed the new ballast with the new bulb on the driver side and they work. Then I installed the old ballast with the new bulb and that also worked. Per the volt meter the driver side is at 12.12 V. The passenger side is 11.83 V. I measured the same through the adapter wires/connectors. The ballast input is 9V - 16V so it should work. Right now I’m scratching my head. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Are the ballasts and bulbs from a reputable brand? Could be cheap stuff? I always do a bulb/side to side swap when hid go out to confirm whether it’s bulbs or ballasts

The brand is MTEC. I’ve had it for many years and have not had any major issues. I’ve had to replace a bulb once before. Anyway I’ve found the issue. When voltage is below 12V, the ballast doesn’t turn on. So I turned the engine on to give it more juice and it works just fine. However there is another issue. The bulb that was sent to me is loose while on the socket. As a result, it vibrates and turns off especially when I hit a bump. I will contact the seller about this.

Check your connections at the bulb. I've ran into issues like this. The connectors sometimes are longer than OEM. Thus the pins are too short to reach into the stock harnesses, or vice versa. You can try to see if the pins in the connectors are seated properly.

I found the culprite. It was a connector that was reversed. Everything works now. Thanks for the responses.
