Yeah considering the Nav on our cars is outdated in terms of the Interface and having cell phones with GPS, i can see your frustration with not having it follow you.. I use it sometimes when the destinations make sense but its great to touch the screen every now and then to check out what roads are ahead of you or in any direction for that matter.
I've never even attempted to use my car navigation. Can't imagine a decade-old nav system being that great. Phone + GoogleMaps + cupholder always does the job for me.
Unfortunately, there are problems when I actually need to use the cupholder for its intended purpose...
Is there a way to update it? It always gets off my location after I set it. Also how do you turn the screen to night mode? Thanks
Sounds like you’re not getting signal, this happened to my brother in law when he bought a used ES and it was a ripped antenna cable. Only way to find out if it’s the case would be to remove the NAV and double check.
It was just annoying that the nav wasn't following my location but I calibrated it. All good now!
You should NEVER have to calibrate the navigation system. Look for the word "GPS" in the upper left corner under the map scale indicator. If the "GPS" indication doesn't appear within a few minutes of starting the car, it means that it isn't locking onto the GPS signal. It could be as simple as someone forgetting to plug in the GPS antenna after removing the radio - this has happened to a number of people on this site after a dashboard replacement.
