Anyways, these things are supposed to last quite a while from what I understand. Probably longer than I'll own the car.
if it didnt come from the dealership and they did not install it, they will not cover any type of warranty.

The parts come with 1-year 12k mile warranty if purchased from dealer. If someone else installed, you would need to take off and bring back if you need warranty claim. Thats if the parts department accepts the claim.

Thanks all. This is quiet the confusing process for a female. Some might know exactly what to get, but this one doesn’t. Dealership guy wants way too much for one replacement. Guy I bought the car from is saying he can replace it and it only cost 35.00 bucks for the shock! I haven’t read that cheap price anywhere! I will replace both sides at once for sure. When I google a pic to see what I need I get back several different images. At this point I just would love to see a picture of what I should be buying and take it to the mechanic. I’m certain I don’t want a 35.00 shock on my car! Could I put the F sport on the rear only? Front ones seem to be fine. Again, I’m sorry to sound so ignorant, but I’ve no idea what to buy. OEM, F sport etc. but thank you all for trying to help.

I only had one "leaky" rear shock but I wanted to take care of everything and only do one alignment instead of waiting for the front axle. I read about how the F sport shocks improved the ride so much I just changed out thee fronts too since I was already planning to change the rears. Ride was so much better than the choppy original 06 sport package shocks.

Yea they told me $900 to replace one shock. I laughed and did it myself.

Shocks are replacement items, like tires. You will want to replace both rears at the same time. If someone is offering $35 for INSTALLING a new shock, have them do BOTH rears for $70. You cannot beat that price!

Normally I recommend OEM, Koni, KYB, or a full coilover. A Google search will quickly bring up what is available for you model Lexus.

The genuine Lexus / Bilstein F-Sport shocks are the best and cheapest (rear) shocks on the market at $70/ea. These are the upgraded factory shocks that are included with the F-Sport package. Just google PTR13-53082 and buy from any reputable dealer like Lexuspartsnow. Installation is very standard, can be done by any mechanic, and shouldn't cost more than maybe 2 hours of labor ($300) per pair.
The base model Lexus / Koni rear shocks are defective and well known to fail prematurely and leak oil -- there is a Lexus service bulletin alerting dealers of the chronic issue. The front shocks are not flawed and there's no need to replace them just because of the rears failing. Shocks should always be replaced in pairs but there is no need to match front and rear.

I somehow didn’t think of these as an option. I’ve been looking at the KYB shocks since my right rear is leaking. Definitely found my replacement . Thanks buddy.

I just had all 4 of my shocks replaced with KYB gas adjusts. The ride is pretty harsh. I dont know how it compares to stock because the shocks were blown when I purchased the car. Im just comparing the ride to my 08 G37 coupe and I was expecting a much softer.

Whats your reasoning for getting an alignment? You shouldn't have to get an alignment if you're just replacing the shocks and not touching any of the other components in the back.

I have to disagree about it NOT being necessary to replace all 4 when one is stock and one is performance oriented.
The damping rates for compression, rebound, and spring rates balance per axle matter if you expect it to behave during transitions of braking, cornering, accelerating, etc. If these things don't matter or you never noticed the old ones were bad and someone had to tell they were bad, then it likely won't be noticed. But if you expect the car to be compliant while drive, try to match performance brand and type front and rear ASAP.

Because the front is heavier, the shocks typically have an increased damping rate to go with the increased spring rate on the front. So, if front to rear is not balanced properly you get some very strange characteristics of rocking, diving, and even a kick in the rear when a performance shock is placed up front and the dead beats are left in the rear.

Just saying be aware...

The lower control arm needs to be removed to get the shock out, though it's not adjustable so I agree with you that it should not have any measurable impact on the alignment.
