I recently bought a 2012 is250 F sport and wondering what oil works best for my car. It' my first oil change and want to make the right choice.

Any correct API 0W20 synthetic should be sufficient for your car. Toyota 0W20 is available from your local Toyota or Lexus dealer and is priced quite reasonably. Other such as Mobil 1, etc., should work well also.

so from what I've seen Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic seems to be preferred any thoughts?

For what it's worth, on the IS250, Lexus used 5W30 for 2006-2010 models and switched to 0W20 for 2011-2015 models.
