Default Did anyone else have issues with their recalls?

I took my car in for a recall for the sticky dash and panels. My navigation system was working fine when I took it in but they fried it? The screen is black and they had to order a new one to replace it. I'm confused with what happened? I called the manager of the dealership because I have to take a trip back to the dealership to get it fixed. He said it's not the dealership's fault that it happened and that it was the manufacturer's error? It shocked my system? Sorry, I'm confused.

The screen going un-responsive and eventually fading to black is a known issue with the 2nd Gen IS. Did they make you pay for the replacement or did they pay for it?

I have a 2010 and I haven't had any of these issues so far.. but my vehicle is stored in the winter so hopefully it still works when the spring arrives haha

But yeah it could be pure coincidence that it crapped out when they did your dash - or maybe they did F something up who knows

They are paying for it but my issue with them is that I drove far for the recall and since they messed up my navigation system, I wanted to see if they would reimburse me for driving 6 hours to fix a problem that I didn't have until they replaced my dash. The manager said it's not their mistake and it was the car being faulty and the manufacturer's part at fault so I'm confused to as why?

The screen was perfectly fine before, we baby the car and keep it in top shape. They even attempted to blame us by saying that their mechanic said it wasn't working when we brought it in. -.-

Considering you were driving there for the recall anyway, getting them to pay for your trip might be a tough sell.. I'd he happy they're paying for the Nav unit.. but any attempt of laying blame when the screen was working is unacceptable in my eyes

I'm not asking for them to pay for my last trip, just the next one because I have to make the trip specifically for them to fix the navi.

Because they fried it and blamed it on the manufacturer. I'm having to pay out $2-400 for a trip that was completely unnecessary and due to their mistake.

They said something about faulty car and the manufacturer's part being to blame, insisting they aren't at fault. How do I go in for a dash and panel replacement to only come out and have my navi fried?

I guess that's fair enough but their manager's attitude towards the situation is not ok. I'm in Humboldt and Sacramento is 6 hours away.

It's beautiful in Humboldt but it's too far from the major cities unfortunately. Everything is a couple hours away.

You're right that the service dept probably didn't handle the communications and situation the best as they should. But on the positive, you'll have a new $3k + NAV system that you'll not have to worry about.
