Hello, about a month ago my IS was involved in a wreck (rear ended) and I dropped it off into a body shop that I found to get the work done. The day after I dropped it off they called me and told me that the car wouldn’t start and asked me if I’d ever have that problem before. I went down there and helped the guys look through everything. Replaced the battery, replaced the key fob battery, and nothing. It wouldn’t even attempt to crank whenever you pushed the start button just go into accessory mode. Light on push button would turn green so I know it was picking up the fob. Had the vehicle towed to a Toyota dealership in Tyler, TX and they diagnosed it as the ECM and said that it was under the extended warranty but only a Lexus Dealership could do the install and programming. I was told that this is what it was 100% the problem and was told that I would need to get the next closest dealership to come and tow the car there to perform the change. Next dealership happen to be in Dallas, TX about 1 hr 45 mins away...lucky me. They come and get the car and they said that it was the fuel pressure sensor. I asked them how they came up with that and they said that after they plugged in their techstream because the obd ii port was shut down, they followed the prompts and said that’s what it was and I asked them if they ever tested any of the other components to which they replied no. I get ahold of the Toyota guys and they said that they applied direct power to the ECM and it would not wake up and there was no communication with the engine. I told this to the guys at Lexus and they said that they disconnected the Fuel Pressure Sensor and my ECM woke up and was reactivated. So it turned into something that was supposed to be taken care of by Lexus into a $1500 expense for me. Just wondering if this has happened to anybody else, because it seems strange to me that a failed Fuel Pressure Sensor will cut the power to the ECM and not allow the vehicle to crank and then if you disconnect the Sensor the ECM magically works again.
Vehicle started right up after FPS was put in and I drove it for about 3 hours back home without incident.
