i have never driven or sat in the is before
i was looking at one for sale today and the exhaust sounds somewhat loud/like a subaru wrx...
a lot louder than es
is this by design?

exhaust looks to be oem but that is just looks
maybe leaking
so is this car supposed to sound as quite as ES?

it's not loud from the factory, it's just as quiet as an ES
did it have an aftermarket intake by chance...that will give it a growl when you punch it

no there is no indication of anything aftermarket and the car has been serviced at Germain lexus most of it's life

stock lexus does not have any sound, they are quiet sport luxury cars.

are you sure you are checking the whole exhaust system? headers, down pipe, mid pipe, and axel,

it could be OEM looking tips but have a mid-pipe or headers.

does the exhaust system have resonators and mufflers?

if all parts of exhaust are OEM, then maybe he did the stupid way of making noise by making it leak. (i.e. putting big spacers between the gaskets that connect the pipes so the exhaust leaks out)

Ive owned a 2002 wrx and currently 2006 is250. I can say that they do not sound any where close to similar.

If you take you the silencer on the intake tube out will change the loudness or also if you cut a whole in front of the airbag like the is-f design it will have growl and you will not see the mod. Mine has that done and growls like crazy
