Thoughts on this Lexus IS250!
Hello Club Lexus,
Currently, drive a 09 ES350 but would like to pick up another car to add to the garage.
I'm been looking at an IS250 to purchase and stumbled upon this one which seems too good to be true.
The price alone is ridiculous, side note; it's in CAD currency as I live in Toronto, CA.
2006 IS250
127,000 KM (79,000 MILES)
I've emailed the owner for more info, and this is what I've gotten back.
Here is the link, http://m.autotrader.ca/a/19_10527169
Suspicious? Should I pass up on this offer? What would be the next steps to take? Is this even possible?

I say check it out. From the exterior shots it has curb rash and rock chips but not much else I can say that's wrong with it. The interior is pretty clean and looked similar to my car when I bought it, rear seats still mint, driver seat has wear especially on the seat bolster and the steering wheel is pretty worn. The driver door panel looks a little damaged too. For $3k CAD I'd say go check it out, if it checks out you should get it, might be slower than the ES350 but you could probably flip it if you hate it later. For $3k you could have a lot of spare change to fix a lot of small issues you'll find in the buyer's guide on CL.
Couple things, namely the waterpump usually goes back and you might want to look into doing a walnut blasting for the engine to clean up the carbon buildup and get an oil catch can. Rear calipers tend to seize as well. Good luck!

I looked at the auttotraded link provided and the phone number has an 803 area code which is in South Carolina. It could be a typo, VOIP or a scam further research needs to be conducted

I would check it out. Normally pics don't do justice. It looks too good to be true and then when you see the car and talk to the guy more you'll probably find out more info as to why its $3k. I was looking on AutoTrader and average price for that many kms and that year is around $9k. Definitely pay attention to the body and paint for inconsistencies, it may have been in an accident.
let us know what happens if you go check it out.

It's a SCAM. Run!!
For years autotrader.ca had a link on their website where people could report potential scammers and they would take the ad down, I don't see this link any more
