Default Overfilled oil IS350

Oil was overfilled by about 1/2 quart. Is this a big deal for the 2gr-fse? I know some engines don’t take well to overfilling. I have driven it about 200 miles like this.

Are you going off the fill without a filter (6.2 quarts), or fill with a filter change (6.6 quarts)? I wouldn't worry about it if it was filled to 7 quarts.

It was with filter. Checking oil when cold the dipstick reads about a quarter inch over the full mark on the front side of the dipstick and about a half inch over the full line on the back side of the dipstick.

The good news is these have a windage tray between the reciprocating crank and the oil pan so it would help reduce foaming if the oil were so high as to be struck by the crank. That said, on startup it may in fact be high enough to make contact and lower as the oil is placed into circulation.... I'd be more concerned if it were a full qt!

Does your engine consume oil between changes? As in it will lower itself over time.

I only gave my mechanic 7 quarts of oil so If they put all of it in it should only by overfilled by .4 quarts, but that wouldn’t be a half inch over the full line since the two dots represent 1.6 quarts. So maybe my mechanic didn’t drain the oil long enough and there was some left over when they filled it? Also I have no idea if the car consumes oil as I just bought it.

Being so ****, I'd have to drain a bit until it fell into the recommend high-low markers. But that's just me.

Ok so I drained a half quart of oil and it is reading about 1/8 inch below the full line now. Thanks for your input everyone and according to 2013FSport it seems unlikely that the engine was compromised from being .5 quarts over which was my main concern.

better over than under, but I would drain a tad just to get to the max line. cornering or braking can cause oil to go places or get sucked up where it shouldn't.
between min and max on the dip stick is about 1 quart of oil.
