I have a 2006 IS 350, but I think the part in question is the same as the GS. For about a week, the trunk would not close properly (as though the latch would not return to the "open" or "receive the post" position). It took a few gentle attempts to get it to close properly.

Then, after about a week of doing that dance with the trunk lid, it started to close perfectly. However, shortly thereafter, when using the interior electronic switch, the keyfob, or the electronic trunk switch, it won't open the trunk. The actuator does make a sound though; it sounds like a one-second buzzing noise --as though the electronic motor is jammed or stuck.

All of the manual methods still work fine (using the key under the lip, using the safety latch inside the trunk, etc.), and upon inspection, all of the cables and linkages appear to move freely.

Has anyone experienced this, and is there a way to look at the actuator to see if it's stuck on something?
