Default 2006 Lexus IS 250 Engine Swaps

Hey everyone just curious as to what engines I can swap into my IS250. I really don't want to have to deal with putting the original double overhead cammed v6 block back into the car because I've seen a lot of problems with these engines and I really dont want to have to deal with that mess again. Were trying to look for new engines for the car because the repair shop said it was beyond being able to be repaired. The engine is completely done and we've been having people search for engines for the car and it's not getting done. So if anyone knows what types of engines are compatible for it that would be greatly appreciated!

The 2GR-FSE (3.5L V6) engine is going to be the easiest to swap in, since it came in the car as well. It's the same size and dimensions as the engine you pulled out.

Alternatively the 3GR-FE (3.0L V6) and 3GR-FSE (3.0L V6) are both options. The 3GR-FE was used in the IS300 overseas and the 3GR-FSE was used in the similar GS300. Additionally, the 3UZ-FE (4.3L V8) from the GS430 can be mostly bolted in, though I'm not sure of anyone that has done it off the top of my head. The 1UR-FSE (4.6L V8) and 2UR-GSE (5.0L V8) are both options that would fit as well.

Going in other directions, the 2JZ-GTE (3.0L L6 Turbo) has been swapped in before, but it is much more custom setup than other options I've listed.

As far as ease of swaps go, the 3GR-FSE is by far the easiest option aside from the original engine. It is externally identical and would require no modifications. That said, it would also have any and all of the same issues that the original IS250 engine had.

Okay that helps a lot actually because I was originally running a 2.5 l V6 plus it was an AWD Lexus is250.

AWD complicates things for sure. The parts needed to do an AWD setup exist for all of the engines I listed, though again, you're in for a lot of work if you don't use a 2GR/3GR/4GR.

I’ve added stage 2+ spec clutch with light weight flywheel and recently ordered. Kaaz 2way lsd. I’m not looking to do any tune options for the 4gr as I don’t see it worth it maybe maybe not we’ll see. I do know I’m interested in top swap ideas with as little fab work and with trans adapters ready or somewhat ready available with my ra62. Something different then the 2gr maybe. It’s a drift sedan keep in mind so I like the 3uz option for more torque. But keep finding dead ends on remaps for m/t. Any help is greatly appreciated.
