Default Has anybody ever installed "flashing brake lights"?

Has anybody installed a flashing module to their brake lights? or their third brake light?

If so, how?

I want to do it but not sure how to start since I am an electrical newbie. I have quick wire taps (clamps onto wires and has female&male connectors), I just need to know which wire to tap for power and ground (i think?)

The use is for awareness. The brake lights quickly flashes 3 times and then turns back to regular brake lights (solid).

I've seen the mod on a few cars (not Lexus), but always for the third brake light, not the main ones. Doubt it would be legal on the main brake lights, at least in the US. Even on the third brake light, I found the flashing far more annoying than useful, and quickly passed the cars equipped with them at the first opportunity.

Police and utility vehicles have them installed in my area. I have come across civilIan cars and it is blinding at night.

I found one that is exactly 4 quick flashes (~1.5 seconds) and then solid. Most of the other ones are 4 quick flashes and then 4 slow flashes (~4-5 seconds) which I found to be wayyy too much and annoying. I am planning on installing onto third brake light as regular brake lights might be too blinding/annoying.

replace the red bumper reflectors with the aftermarket led lenses. Wire that to do the blinking.

I would only do this to the 3rd brake light only.
I have seen newer Toyotas and Nissans with this though their light is a dual intensity, meaning when the brakes are hit the 3rd brake light comes on dim them bright, dim then bright, dim then bright and stays bright!

if you don't know how to read a schematic I wouldn't try to tackle installing an aftermarket module yourself...but if you dare, see below!
