To the OP, if you think you like your IS250, wait till you try the IS350!
I'm most impressed by the reliability and simplicity of the mechanical aspects of this car, over a comparably equipped BMW 3 series, Acura, and Infinity cars.
I fluked out and found all the things I could have wanted in one package:
-Red on tan leather. Not another ubiquitous silver, black, white or grey car (here in the PWN, all those "shades" tend to blend together)
-NO navi (as they tend to break as the car ages...just look at all the threads here with ppl. trying to fix theirs)
-No Turbo
-No electronic parking brake
-RWD (not AWD) as it saves a bit of fuel, is lighter overall, and is easier (cheaper) to maintain as the car ages for suspension and driveline components.
This is my first Japanese car. I've only owned American and German cars (except for that time I owned a Volvo).
Only thing I really dislike is the climate system. It seems to always want to switch on the a/c when the temps are low. And as soon as you start the car, it wants to activate the "recycle air" function!
Why can't I just get fresh air flowing thru the vents and floor, all summer long? I really wish it was more "manually" operated.

I keep mine on auto and the vents always stays on fresh. Never switches to recirculate. What I do dislike about the auto air is it only blows on my dash and not the floor.
But back to the thread:
I agree these cars are a blast to drive. I just bought my 08 is350 at the end of March this year. It has 130k on it. Since I did new tires and front struts it feels like a new car. I’ve never had a 10 year old car this nice. I drive 600 miles a week and enjoy everyone.
I test drove the 250 but it didn’t have enough power for me. Once I drove the 350 I was sold. My next choice was a gs350 but they were out of my price range.
Mine other thing that’s going to take some time to he’s use to is the injection tick. I’m constantly turning the radio down at a stop, thinking I have a motor noise. Lol

My 88 325is also has noisy injectors as well as solid (non hydraulic) lifters, so I'm pretty comfortable with the orchestra of mechanical sounds. It makes these cars feel "alive". Unlike those soulless electronic appliances like the Prius.

This 2004 IS 250 is the greatest car I have ever owned. If you’re on the fence about buying a Lexus I couldn’t recommend it more. I have had this car since October 2017 and i’ve since driven it literally accross the country from Florida to Washington state. It has given me no problems since the day i bought it. I’ve put some crazy mileage in this car and I love every second of it.
