Default Front Dash part numbers Guide....Replacement

I'm one of the many lexus owners that bought their 2is used, but are without the dash replacement because the previous owner skipped it. Just making this thread incase others have the same questions.... So there is reference to part numbers and what dashes are interchangeable.

I want to replace the dash myself and Im looking for the correct part number. Its pretty darn confusing as some things don't make sense or cross reference. I own a 2006 is250 manual, but I cross referenced also for a 2008 is350. Both using vins as well... Im trying to replace my dash and give my old one to the is350 as mine looks better than their current condition.

I know there should be 2 different dash styles cosmetically pretty much. The 2009 and up have a different newer climate control and air vent shape, while 2006-2008 had its own shape. So it should be 2 styles if it was that easy....

From my research online it seem the older style is double the price, while the new style is cheaper. Based on the site Lexuspartsnow.com older models is around $420 without shipping, while the newer model is $220 without shipping.

What doesn't make sense is the part numbers for the older style seems to say discontinued, but says its been replaced with another part number leading to the newer design. The older style only includes 2006 and 2007 however. 2008 even though I know visually looks the same as 2006 and 2007, is compatible with the new part number.

Here is what I found in my research just based of lexuspartsnow.com.... Other sites are even more confusing. Even though I inserted my VIN.

Part number : 55400-53902 , shows on parts site as fitting 2006-2007 models , PRICE $420

Part number : 55400-53904 , replaces 55400-53902, shows on parts site as fitting 2006-2007 models , PRICE $420

Part number : 55400-53906 (MultiSupersession), replaces 55400-53904 , shows on parts site as fitting 2007 only on lexuspartsnow.com but on other sites listed as fitting 2008 and up. PRICE $294

Part number : 55400-53909-C0 , replaces 55400-53906 , shows as fitting 2008 and up PRICE $294

Im gonna call dealer ship tomorrow, but anyone know what part I need for my 2006 is250 manual? Also I want to know if its interchangeable with a 2008 is350... They share the same older style and look the same. The part reference on sites make no sense as they put 2008 in with the newer style vents. But i know for sure they had the same gunmetal round shaped vents.

My questions is if the older dash style for 2006-2008 is discontinued, if I use a 2009 and up model dash would it work? Obviously the vent and maybe the climate control has to be updated to the newer models for it to fit flush correct?

AFAIK, the padded dash panel is the same for all 2nd generation ISX50 and ISF models. However, the center stack changed in 2009 along with the center vent. the newer stack must be used with the newer vent and the older stack must be used the older vent.

There are 2 colours for the 2IS dash, but the lighter grey wasn't introduced until later. All years are interchangeable, the vents are on other pieces that fit into the dash, not the dash itself.

For a 2006 IS, the correct replacement part is 55400-53909-C0. (Fits 2006-2013/14/15 ISx50/F/C).

Good luck trying to get availability. Figured most dashes are reserved to the waitlist and probably accidents with airbag deployment.

Interesting fact, the dashboards for the recall in the USA have a different supply line (and as such, different part numbers to order). The normal supply number dash has a reasonable amount of stock available.

(Equivalent recall part number is 04005-14853-C0)

Thanks for the part number Jeff. You also helped me out without knowing, when i searched for info regarding is350 calipers upgrade into the is250. Your previous info and posts with rotor info made it pretty clear.

Even though I trust your info regarding the dash, it's weird how all sites say it won't fit. Check the attached image....

So just to clarify, all dashes are interchangeable. Its pretty much brackets that attach to the insides of the center of the dash that position the vents and radio. Thats why 09+ vents won't fit correctly in a pre 09 2is?

Looks like ill be ordering a dash soon then.

Soulific, did you end up replacing your dash? Curious if either worked out for you.

Anyone else replace their dash DIY?

Waiting for the New England weather to change. When it was 4 deg the other day a nice long snake like crack went from top to bottom on the passenger air bag. The dash is the last part we should be worried about changing. I can’t image it being to hard, just time consuming. Im also the guy that doesn’t like to pay someone to do something im capable of doing myself.

I'm also interested to see if part number 55400-53909 works in your 2006 IS. I have an '06 as well and I think I'll give replacing my dashboard a shot if you're successful. Take pictures! ;-)

I went to the dealer to pick up unrelated parts, and they also ran the part for me for the dash. Haven't checked the part number to see if it matches Jeffs but the price was decent. I have to find the invoice they put the part number on.

The thing keeping me from doing this, is the labor involved. I don't have a full day to dedicate to this. Wish there was someone to offer the service for under $100.

Unfortunately, nobody is going to want to get paid $100 for an involved job like this. iirc, the TSIB has this billed as a 3 hour job. Most shop rates are like $70-90. Your average person, like you or me, is going to take a bit longer doing the job.

I checked the part number that Jeff gave and what my local dealership gave. It matches... the dealership said I needed some brackets and pads also, parts numbers are listed in the photo.

ill be ordering soon as I’m ocd and my dash is annoying me. I tried getting out a shiny spot and scratches, but ended up making it look worse. It’s hot in Cali now, making the dash shiny and sticky.

one question though if your reading this Jeff, or if anyone else knows... I want to put 09+ Black center air vents in my 06. Since the vent parts are connected to the dash on separate pieces, which parts or brackets do I need to make the newer vent fit? Also would I need to change the radio? Or are all years the same shape?

You should be good with vent, I think they fit the same but the tube leading up might be the connecting point. If you have your old dash, you should be able to transfer anything missing or needed off of it.

No, vents will not properly fit with the 06-08 HU's without quite a bit of modification. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...s-on-08-a.html

Yeah, seems like the work involved is not worth it. I just wish lexus used black radios instead of that metallic gold color. I hate that color of vents and center console. I think the 2011+ ifs had a black mark levingson option.
