Are there any symptoms? Would you smell gas?

Yes you would probably see, and smell gas from the damper. If it has the adjustment screw on top. I haven't looked at the actual part.

Default Fuel leak recall notice?

Anyone got a notice in the mail yet or went to the dealer to perform recall?

Fuel leak recall

Lexus has announced a recall that covers some 115,000 vehicles in the United States. The affected vehicles include 2006-13 model year IS 350 sedans, 2010-14 IS 350C convertibles and 2007-11 GS 350 and GS 450h sedans.

All of these cars use a specific 3.5-liter V6 engine that may be prone to fuel leaks. According to Lexus' official recall statement, "the diaphragm material in the fuel pulsation dampers in this engine may harden over time and crack, causing fuel to leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a vehicle fire."

Lexus says it'll fix the affected vehicles by replacing the fuel delivery pipe with a new one that contains "improved pulsation dampers." The service will, of course, be performed free of charge. Owners should expect to receive notification via mail beginning in early August.

Did anyone get the notice yet?

Who do I contact to update my car owners information? I just bought it so I don't want to miss a recall letter.

In the US if you register your vehicle to your name and address, you should be covered.
Verify your vin matches all documents.

No. Lexus’s website is still saying a remedy is not available yet.

I guess this is why I’ve been smelling and seeing gas in that area last winter, yet it went away once it warmed up.

I live in hot climate, I have intense fuel smell after startup for over a year now. Also carbon smell when flooring the IS350.

I hope this will fix it

If the diaphragm fails its not going to change from the weather. Its going to leak and spray flammable gas.
You might want to inspect the fuel rail for leaks before bursting into flames!

I had this problem happen to me about 3 months ago. I had to pay out of pocket for the new rails/fittings + labor. You will know when it happens. A strong odor of gas will enter the cabin of the car. I could actually see the decomposed diaphragm material below the rail.

I was told this was becoming more common. They knew the problem right when I pulled up for service.

Then Lexus should re-imburse you for the repair (it should say this on the recall notice, if you paid out of pocket for the recall repair). However, if it was not repaired with the updated parts, they might not.

Just a note, the remedy is now available according to the Lexus recall site. Letters were mailed out, but you can make the appointment whenever.

I do smell gas when I start the car, but it goes away after a while. I don't smell it inside the car, but if my window is open or I'm standing outside, I can smell it. Is this the cause of the smell?

Seems like it applies to Canada, just call the dealer and see if they are able to order the parts for the recall. Canada's recall database lists the recall # as 2018346. http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/...?lang=eng&as=1

I called my dealer today, they ordered the parts and will have them next week.
