Default How To Fix Door Trim Molding???

Hey guys,

I was wondering if you can help me with the door molding issue I have on my drivers side window. I noticed that the trim keeps popping up and when I pop it back down the next time I roll up my window it starts to life again. I looked on the bottom side and noticed that there is a tiny black clip that might be broken and that's why the rear section will not pop down. I called lexus and they said they don't sell the clip and I have to buy the entire window molding. Don't really want to buy the entire thing since it's $134.

Anyone have a suggestion to fix it or have had this problem?

i would run a bead of clear silicone adhesive where the molding meets the body. it won't damage paint and its available at home depot or lowes. use blue painters tape or masking tape to hold it in place while the adhesive dries.

Would that hold up to the constant window going up and down tho? I thought about just saying screw it and putting some kind of strong adhesive on that metal tab sticking up in the first pic gluing that tab down.

where ever there is solid contact between the trim and the surface of the door, apply adhesive there. And yes, once the silicone cures, it will hold up just fine.

Best place I would find this part is at a junkyard. I can't see myself spending $100+ for a chrome trim. This doesn't seem to be a common part that fails though. Wonder if the trim was removed prior?

Its a Toyota part probably the same as Camry, you wouldn't believe how many parts are interchangeable

i doubt the junkyard would sell the clip by itself. most likely they would sell the door trim with it only.
