You should be able to just take a look and see the difference between halogen and hid. Its a striking difference, the only other thing i can think of is if you reach in and remove the bulb, it should be easy to remove the halogen. FYI, if your car has halogen you can't convert to hid, but you can do it the other way around.

HID cars will have a Hazard High Voltage Electric Shock label on each light housing. Usually yellow / black.

gompka & Fsport are correct. I also have an 07 IS250. They are the stock halogen D4S bulbs so therefore I am unable to convert to HID. But at least the bulbs I’m replacing them with from KENSUN are cheap they are $30 - 33? And they still look great!

I'm fairly confident 'D4S' is an HID headlamp, not halogen. The Halogen low-beam bulb fitted to 2IS vehicles is an H11. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

don't all 06-08 in North America if equipped w/ HID also have AFS? so if your IS250 have AFS then u should have HID?

Consider posting a picture of your headlamp, we can tell you whether it's HID or Halogen based on that.

try to turn on the headlight at night time.
If the light was dim at first then getting brighter, you got HID
If the light bright right away then you have halogen
