Default Electrics in roof not working! Help?

The electrics in the roof of my 2006 IS350 are not working at all. Rear view, overhead lights, cabin lights, all have no power. I imagine it’s a broken wire leading up through an A pillar. Anybody have any help for me? Thanks!

Have you checked the fuses? The fuse location is in the owners manual.

yeah, I thought it would be a fuse, too, so I changed them all! The car is new to me, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt. No joy on the overhead fixtures, though.

The best thing might to open panels to look for the plug locations. There are probably YouTube videos on how to do this. That was what worked to fix my heated seats.

So has none of those listed accessories worked since you purchased the car or was there an event that could have possibly led to this being an issue?

These have not worked since I got the car. Everything else works fine and it runs great.
I replaced all of the small fuses in the under hood box and the passenger side box. I started on the driver side box but I ran out of fuses. I’ll do the remainder this weekend.

Did this vehicle have an impact with a A-pillar airbag deployment? I could see a wire being pinched or cut by an airbag going off.

No, but it was a flood salvage. Rebuilt engine and water wasn’t high in the interior. That’s why I assumed it was a fuse. I’m beginning to think this issue is not related to the flooding.

Get yourself two tools. A 12v test lamp and a hand held volt ohm meter. Often called a DMM or digital mutimeter.

Also grab some alligator clip style test leads.

Step one, no more throwing good fuses away. Visually inspect them. If good, return to location if they are corrosion free.
2) With the ignition on, use the 12v test lamp connected to ground and verify the suspect fuse to the roof has power. Read the owners manual for details on what fuse does what. Many circuits are protected at higher levels.

In short one can also test fuses without removing them. With test probe connected to ground, a powered circuit with a good fuse with show equal voltage at both test points on the fuses end. Notice each ATC fuse has exposed metal next to the ##. Touch both sides. If both sides light/show voltage with DMM, the fuse is good.

At least get a test lamp. They are cheap. Then we can help.
