Well another way to help cut down the carbon deposits is to switch to motor oils that's are Dexos 1 Gen 2 approved. These oils just came out at the end of last year and help inhibit low carbon deposits due to less ash. Plus they are good for the LSPI issues that common OEM turbo vehicles were getting the past few years. All the fuel treatments I read about dont really do anything because the injectors dont spray over the valves in a GDI engine.

It is possible to do it your self. You will need a shop vac and a few other things but there was a guide either on here somewhere or I might of seen else where.

If you feel you don't have the ability to do it yourself, look for a VW/BMW Shop. They more than likely have a lot of experience doing Walnut Blasting.

thank you kindly. My 250 hasn’t hit 10,000 miles yet, so I am thinking best way to have a long life

Default I have 154,000 on 07 IS250

No Carbon problems (yet)

Advice:
1) Accumulate highway miles at high speeds for long distances
2) When warmed, flog it
3) Oil: low Noack and high PAO oils. TGMO oil is uncomfortably high Noack. Mobil 1 EP fits the bill for me
4) NO!!! Sea Foam....its made for outboard motors. You need a product w/PEA. Techtron, Red Line, Gumout. Make sure it has PEA on lable
4a) Put one bottle in when tank is below 1/4-concentrates power of cleaning
4b) Put in another bottle b4 fill up w/Top Tier gas
5) Spray CRC Intake cleaner into warmed up engine about 1x per 50K miles
6) Enjoy your ride.

Addendum: stop and go in cold temps in NOT your friend. LIMIT stop and go, get your car sufficiently warmed b4 going out into cold/stop/go traffic

^^^^^ I agree with dixie ! I was driving around for about a year with that nasty rotten egg smell coming from the engine everytime I floored the gas pedal a little too hard, someone told me it was due to some carbon buildup. Last month, a friend of mine suggested using GUMOUT TUNE UP after he smelled my car after a long day of driving. After 3 treatments of GUMOUT (in a month) I have yet to smell that foul nasty odor coming from the engine. ( I floored it from 60 - 100 on the highway) GUMOUT has worked better than over 30 treatments of seafoam ! so highly suggested !

Huh? Lexus dealers don't do walnut blasting - they do a "top end clean" which, I understand, involves just spraying cleaner into the air intake.

What exactly are you guys doing when you describe "walnut blasting"?

Basically cleaning out the intake valves with walnut media which I believe are walnut shells, so they blast the valves with a fancy shop vac and wand adapter onto the valves which dislodges the carbon off the valves and sucks it up I think
