During air bag recall dealer broke dash
#16
They tried to go the cheap route and repair the dash. If they just replaced the dash from the beginning it would of been cheaper on them and over. The car is 10 years old but it doesn’t look it , I keep the interior in great shap and I want to keep it that way. And if it wasn’t for a recall this would never of happened.

Dealer has had the car for 2 days. I got a call today saying they cleaned all the spots off and repaired the dash again. But he said they did a great job. He claims unfortunately they can’t replace the dash because the extended warranty is over. I said but you broke it taking it apart. He said things like that can happen on a used car. They are delivering it to me tomorrow. Looks like I might have to contact Corp. can’t wait to see how good of a job they did.

I hope the results are to your satisfaction. Put the trust back in Lexus. Good luck.

I would keep pushing and get Lexus Corporate involved, especially since "fault" is not debated. The dealer is supposed to return the car in the same condition you turned it in and it doesn't matter how old the car is. I too had several issues with warranty work for my 2007 Lexus IS250 such as trim pieces damaged, shift boot ripped, etc. and my dealership always made it right by replacing the damaged parts at no charge.

I did open a claim. I called the service manager today
he had me email him pics again. I said in the emai would he treat me this way if it was a 2018. He called me right back bull**** stating the dash is old and brittle. It already had 2 cracks in it. Therefore he has no responsibility to repair it , even though they broke it more. Then I asked him about the damage to the vents and he steered away from that. He claims he has done everything in his powers to repair it. We will have to see what Corp has to say. Most of the damage was done when they tried to repair the dash. It was already out, if they just put a new one in then it would be over.

Wow! If someone has that sort of attitude and works OVER the mechanics, just imagine what other "issues"/problems they have caused that other Lexus owners had to accept because of their inability to work on a "older" vehicle without breaking things. Shame on you!

Lexus Corp called me today. There going to call the manager there and see if they can come up with a resolution. I’m starting to feel like it’s not going in my favor. They will contact me by Tuesday EOD.
