Default 2008 is350 bluetooth connection with galaxy s9 - no music

I'm having problems playing music from my new Galaxy S9+ when paired with my IS350. I can get calls but no music over bluetooth and I have an aux in bluetooth reciever little device. I'm using Google Play Music but no joy. Anyone know how to get music paired over bluetooth with newer Samsung phones?

In your Bluetooth settings on the phone make sure audio is selected. I have an 09-10 paired with an S8+ so it's standard for me. No need for an external device adapter.

You need to pair the media Bluetooth on the phone with your external adapter, not the car. Follow the instructions that came with the Bluetooth adapter to put it in pairing mode, and then get it paired with your phone.

2008 doesn’t have music streaming option. You would have to buy add-on kit

I do have a bluetooth receiver but with my previous Samsung S4, I had both music and phone streaming options.

I've upgraded to Samsung S9+ and I have to connect the phone to the bluetooth receiver for music and let the cars bluetooth use phone function.

so, I have no track control on the steering wheel.

You can unpair the s9+ from your car's bluetooth and use the external receiver for both calls and music

You won't be able to control the music thats going to the BT receiver using your wheel controls unfortunately.

I use the following receiver and it has controls. Maybe place it or something like it somewhere convenient?

Bluetooth audio streaming and control is only possible on 2010+ models.

it sounds like you have the right stuff to stream audio through the adapter and make calls/control them with the car. You just need to make sure your phone can be paired to two devices at the same time for different functions.

had the same issue with my s6 at first. had to enable call and media audio for both the car and aftermarket bluetooth to be able to use the steering wheel controls. worked fine after with my s6, note7 and note8
