Sounds like the anti-sway bar is fighting you. To be on the safe side, unbolt the link from the opposite side. It is likely under a good bit of strain.

Lets say the front end is suspended with wheels off. The sway bar in place and the spring is no longer contained by the coil over on one side. This sounds like your issue.

You have two choices.
1. Jack up the LCA of the un contained spring until you can remove the sway bay link from the other side. Lower the LCA to remove shock and spring.
2. With a jack under the contained side, unbolt the 3 bolts holding the contained spring and lower the LCA. This may or may not be enough until the sway bar is disconnected from either side or BOTH sides of the chassis mount.

Make sense? One of these methods should work. You have to equalize the sway bar pressure before it can be undone. OK

FWIW when it comes time to assemble this, DO NOT tighten those new coil over shocks IN PLACE with the wheels hanging down!!!

It will destroy the lower bushing in your new coil overs!
lower the car onto ramps, bounce on it a few times and then tighten the pinch bolts securing the shock bushing.
