Default Looking to purchase a IS250 AWD 2006-2010 8k Budget

Hey guys,

im looking for a nice looking commuter car with some sports Essence. I’ve been looking st the Infiniti G37 sedans and is250/350s AWD.

Im wondering if an IS250 2nd gen is a good investment aswell as what I should be looking for etc

how much miles is too much miles ?

Any pointers

thanks

We're in the same boat, going to look at a one owner 2008 IS250 with 151,000 miles for $8,350. We're have 3 Lexus in the family and my GS400 is almost 20 years old so we're not worried so much about mileage as we are service history. Of course, no used car is perfect but do your research. As my father once told me you can tell a lot about how someone maintains their car by looking at the tires.

My vote goes to the IS350 not the 250 unless you need AWD? 350 are also available but not with the budget you have in...

Thanks, actually this is for our 20 yr old college student so she will have to live with whatever we buy her haha. We got her an '03 Audi A4 convertible 2 years ago against our wishes and it was nothing but trouble. So we are getting her a Toyota/Lexus this time.

that sure is true, I’m definitely going to have to do a lot of homework. I’ll probabsly not keep the car forever but for overall reliability and good traction in the winter that should do me well. I live in outskirts of NYC so definitely necessary in the winters

yeah 350s are far out of my budget I would like the performance but don’t necessarily need it right now. Just reliable AWD and not going to give me tons of issues with in a short period of time. Which 2nd gen year 250 has better reliability, and less issues?

From the research we've done on the IS250 AWD be sure there is not a problem with the rear axle as it can be expensive to replace. As far as I know though overall the IS250 (like most Lexus) are pretty reliable when taken care of.

Just to be sure though we'll have a PPI done at the Lexus dealer at our expense. I've asked for that before we purchased our SC430 and the guy cancelled and sold the car to someone else...that's fine by me as long as I don't get a lemon. We ended up getting a better car from a Toyota dealer in FL and shipped it to NC.

One more thing, don't forget the carbon build up issue with the 06-10 IS250...

https://www.clublexus.com/how-tos/a/...mize-it-367282

If we purchase the vehicle we'll discount the purchase price and have it done ourselves. The last service entry at Lexus Drivers.com was:

"TOP ENGINE CLEAN. CLEAN CARBON FROM INTAKE VALVES. CLEAN TOPS OF PISTONS ETC. ~ ~ ~ ~,CUSTOMER DECLINED SERVICE"

Hmmm is it possible go check for carbon build up yourself aswell as rear axle problems when test driving the car??? And how much does pre inspection cost at Lexus ?

A PPI is $140 here in NC. Yeah, I was able to see about the carbon build up by registering the VIN at LexusDrivers.com. You can register and add the VIN of any Lexus there and it will give you the service history from the dealer.

IS350's are cheaper than IS250 AWD's in my area. I paid more for an IS250 AWD than a IS350....an IS350 AWD is even more. I live in Minnesota though so AWD is highly sought after. If I lived in a state without snow I would have picked up an IS350 or ISF instead.

That looks like a good deal. High miles though so be sure and get the service history. We're going to test drive this one today. One owner with 151,000 miles. Again, I don't mind high miles as long as it has a good service records.
