Here's a video showing the automatic switching off of the DRL's when the low beams are turned on after I wired in a 5-pin relay:

Does the auto-leveling still work with these?

Are those color lights a different model or a mod you did?

Got my new headlight eyelids back from the painter's today. They make these already sleek headlights look even more modern than they do already!

Default Some issues a month after

So I have had the lights on the car for over a month now I think. Maybe 2. Driving it daily and we have had some storms here. Car is parked outside because my 74 Celica project kicked it out of its stall lol.

Some issues have come up.

First the torrential rains we've had in the bay caused some misting in the passenger light (see pic). Likely from the poor seals from Vland. I did apply more silicone about 2 beads before I put them on so might be design. To be fair my stocks had some condensation on them on the passenger side also so maybe the temperature on that side is really the culprit.

Also the upper curved edge when I first installed them were spot on and flush and alignment was perfect. The other day I noticed there is a considerable gap. I reinstalled them yesterday and found that the extra space in the bolt holes on the lights were likely the cause of the slip. I readjusted and tightened them down but was only able to get about 90 percent of the gap closed up. Dunno what happened there. Any way here are some pics:

Condensation/moisture inside

Drivers side gap before readjustment...

After. Not a huge difference I think...

Passenger before

After.

So, for now I'm gonna keep them on but I'm a little disappointed in how cheaply they were made. I may just plunk down the money for the Lexus upgrade lights from a 2012 if I can find one. Sewell no longer has it on their website.

Condensation means there is an open crack on the top of the headlamp, it can be simply fixed by applying a bead of polyurethane seal on the joint across the top where the black housing and the clear front are mated. That’s a normal failure on aftermarket parts. Even Lexus failed on their RX Headlamps on the earlier years and I have done this repair to my RX330 and it never had condensation again. It will stop the leak.

If I ended up getting a set of these, 1st thing I will do is apply a bead of polyurethane on the top. It is still expensive for me. Maybe on my birthday!

That said, do not seal any light completely. They do need to vent & breath, usually in the back as temperature, pressure changes, and trapped humidity needs a place to be exchanged or it will build up inside.
