Trade my 2006 INFINITI G35 Sedan for a 2008 Lexus IS 250?
Hey guys, my wife and I are going to be moving a little farther away from my job. It's about 29 miles away so I was thinking of possibly trading my car for a 08 Lexus IS 250 to be more fuel efficient. Both cars are auto. My car has 150k miles and has nav and rear view camera. The 08 Lexus has 141k miles and has nav and rear view camera as well. I love my G but the paint is kind of bad and I love the style of the Lexus IS 250 and IS 350 cars.
1. Do you think it's suspicious that the guy is willing to trade for an older car with more miles that has more power?
2. If he truly is looking for more power and wants to trade, do you think I should do it?
Here are some pics.

Lol, well anyways, I mean if he wants to trade and there's no mechanical issues or what not with the car, go for it. You absolutely need to read around here though. Make sure the dash/door panels have been changed since I believe they're no longer being replaced for free for the 2008s. Another thing to watch out for is the carbon build up, he should of had the recall done as well. Check the carfax to make sure no accidents.... Maybe have an indy mechanic give it a thorough inspection.

Like others have said for sure make sure the recalls were done if you can. Have a trusted mechanic take a thorough look at it. Youre going to notice a pretty big difference in power with the 250 id imagine. The 2006 G35 has 280hp/270tq and is a few hundred pounds lighter. The IS250 is 204hp/185tq. If i were you id search for a IS350 if you can get one. The MPGs are great on both the 250 and 350, very minor difference between the two. If you dont care about power though the 250 is a awesome car, and still plenty fast enough for daily driving city/highway. I bought my 2008 is250 with 76k miles on it 3 years ago and am just about at 100k miles now, and have not needed to do any major maintenance, the car runs like a champ. I only regret not getting the 350 cause id like the extra power. But being in a high snow area for half the year AWD kinda dictated my decision . Also if you want to keep the fancy rims you have on the infiniti i believe the cars share the same bolt pattern, should be able to swap em.

I dont have a problem getting ~30mpg highway with my IS350. I wouldn't trade a g35 for an IS250 just for the gas mileage. The carbon buildup will offset any advantage and only cause you problems.

In your case, I’d go for the IS350 if possible. As far as fuel economy goes, the 350 and 250 are about identical if RWD. Coming from the G35 in your case you don’t want to decrease the power and stay about the same or a little bit quicker. The 250 is slow so you’re going to notice it right away. Good luck on your choice
