2006 IS 350 I'm looking at shows oil consumption...
I'm going to look at a 2006 IS 350 tomorrow (private party). The car looks very clean and taken care of (opti coat, optima battery, newer michelins/alignment, pads/rotors, dealer serviced apparently, all the recalls done). Though looking at the service history it seems like a lot of things for a Lexus (granted it's a 2006). I have not ran a carfax yet.
The guy just texted me the VIN this morning (I asked for it last Friday). I added it on the Lexus Drivers website and looked up the history. He apparently took it in 7/21/18 at 85,800 to request an oil consumption test. He brought back in on 8/31/18 at 86,900 and it was down a 1/4 of a quart. Car has 90k on it now. He's asking top dollar for it.
Since it's dealer serviced and probably doesn't have any obvious leaking gaskets or what not, does this mean the engine is burning 1qt between oil changes?

Thanks for the reply.
Wow, I did some reading on "IS 350 + oil burning."
There's no way I can spend $10k on a daily driver that's burning oil. Apparently it can affect the GS 350, too, and there's a 2011 60k mile example locally for $15k.
Guess it's time to move on from wanting an IS 350/GS 350 with this kind of oil usage that Toyota claims is "normal and within spec."

I was lucky enough to meet a few guys in my town with 2is 350’s but higher mileage, and none of them had any issues with oil consumption. Lots of folks on here too with high mileage 350 that don’t seem to have any problems. I guess we’re just the unlucky ones.
