Default Intake filter help

I have a F sport intake on my IS250, I know the filter is reusable by washing and cleaning it. But my dealer has never had the cleaner kit in stock and I’ve been to afraid to clean it myself. So it has never been changed or cleaned before which isn’t good either.
So is it possible to use a K&N filter on my F sport intake?? Also should I get a reusable filter or not ??

Just for reference, the F-Sport filter is a dry filter. If you want, you can buy the K&N cleaning kit but DO NOT use the oil on the filter (again, it's a dry filter), just use the included cleaning solution. Apply solution, rinse with water, allow to dry. Reportedly the F-Sport filter takes a while to dry.

Just add a teaspoon of dish soap, and let it soak for 30 minutes in a bucket. Regardless it will never look new again I used to do it to my AEM dry flow filter. I now prefer the stock air filter over any drop in aftermarket. Also don't use compressed air to dry it. What I use for faster drying is putting it next to a commercial fan in a spare room. It dries up in now time. Just make sure you shake out the filter a bit before. As the filter will soak up a lot of water.

In that case just buy the OEM. The cheapest after market is probably k&n, aem. About $60 each they make no difference in power on the car. You'll still have to clean them out about every 10k miles. Post a pic of your intake set up.

Why would you want to do that? You realize you'll be back to square 1 within 20-30k miles. If you don't want to go through the cleaning process, just buy an OEM filter. IIRC, even if you have the F-Sport intake, it uses the same size filter as the OEM paper filter. Just buy a paper filter if you don't want to clean it.

cleaning the filter isn't that bad... I took a hairdryer/heatgun to speed up the process, used it within a day or so on a not so busy weekend

I will Attempt to clean it tomorrow unless I decide to get a cleaner kit to clean it. I’m aware not to re-oil it. Now how often should it be cleaned ?

PS - do plenty of PRE-RINSE from the top down (reverse direction of air flow) using low water pressure to flush the debris out out from the opposite direction it entered.

Doing this will trap less sediment in the filter.

Also now is a good time to spray the MAF with MAF cleaner if the filter has been neglected.

A K&N cleaner kit should be available at any major auto parts stores around where the air filters are. JUST USE THE CLEANER SOLUTION ONLY!
