Default "11 IS350 fuel rail recall...make CEL turn on?

We have a 350 and I've been meaning to do it but today the CEL light came on....

P0441- Purge Flow Incorrect
P-0455- Evap gross leak

Recall is fuel system related so I'm thinking it could be the cause. Car has given us no other issues over 3 years except a headlight. Dealer said who knows, could be could not be. And the people who talk on the phones know nothing about the cars.

Did anyone else who had this done have a CEL caused by it?

Silly question -- did you check to make sure your gas cap is on tight? A loose or broken cap is by far the most common cause of evap emissions DTCs.

They are not related in any way.

Not a silly question, that was the culprit. It wasn't "off" but it was not screwed tight enough. Spouse's car. I figure another 50 miles or so and it'll turn off.

If you a referring to the fuel pressure sensor gasket replacement, a lot of customers has had fuel pressure sensor issues after recall was performed. This is around a 1500-2000 dollar repair because the dealership doesn’t sell the sensor separately. They replace the whole rail with sensor. I just recently experienced this myself. If I had a chance to do it all over again, I would have never let them touch my car. They also broke a bolt in the fuel rail and didn’t own up to it. So, I’ve had to replace the fuel rail twice since this recall was performed. Good luck!

Default Fuel pressure sensor

I have heard the sensor was available, but all the dealerships I called said they would only sell the whole assembly.

I'm assuming the OP is referring to the newest recall relating to the fuel dampener/delivery pipe, not the old fuel pressure sensor gasket recall. Completely different recalls. But. for future reference, a newer version of the sensor (which includes the rail) is available for $300 online. An older version of the sensor is also available that you can buy alone for about $30 (I went this route when my sensor decided to kick the bucket). If you plan on tackling this, you absolutely need to buy a new gasket for it too, you can't reuse the old one unless you want it to leak. It's really not a hard job to DIY, I have a post somewhere on this forum detailing the process (or you can just find the NHTSA document about how to do it)

I did see some aftermarket sensors priced low, however, the shop that did the work for me highly advised against it. Where did you get your sensor from?

You can buy the sensor and gasket from Lexus (the part numbers were posted previously), however if a dealer looks it up in the parts catalog, it no longer lists it separately.

Jeff,

I appreciate it. I wish I could have done my homework on this one.

IS350, I have received a new recall. It is not the older Fuel Rail recall (which has been completed). Should I take it in? I will bring my recall document, scan and post.

Recall is done, and CEL went off after a few days. Loose gascap. The dealer even filled the car up, Lexus does that for recalls. Good customer service.
