Default 2006 IS350 jerk after complete stop

Yo guys. I have a 2006 IS350 192k miles that jolts after coming to a complete stop. So I will stop and then a second after the car jolts forward. The other day coming down a hill after a complete stop the car turned off. It runs fine (other than this issue) and no codes are thrown .

Usually the jerking at a complete stop means transmission issues. Does it jerk upon every complete stop? Try throwing the car in neutral when you're coming to a stop and see if it still jerks when you completely stop. If it still jerks, you can probably eliminate the tranny as the issue and look more into things like your brakes. Has any work ever been done on the tranny? (fluid, etc)

Damn that's a good idea (throwing it in neutral to troubleshoot). One reason I am not too keen on it being the tranny is that it shifts and downshifts just fine. The jolt literally happens after the complete stop, the 2->1 downshift is pretty seamless.

However I don't think the fluid has ever been changed. Not too sure about this.

Since you believe the trans might be on the OE fluid, I'd start with flushing it!

Although I'm positive this is not it, keep it in mind.
If the TCC solenoid sticks and leave the torque converter locked it will drag the engine down. This usually results in CEL as well as a stalled engine at stop tho.

With a warm engine and open space confirm the Cruise Control operates correctly. Specifically that it disengages from a slight brake tap. Why? The brake tap also disengages the TCC in the lower gears.

Then from a stop, lightly apply the brake enough to get the brake lights on and take off letting it shift through the gears. Repeat and see if you notice the extra nudge when the trans hits
- 3rd then into lock up.
- 4th then into lock up.
- 5th .... repeat
- 6th .... repeat

Report back.

A dirty MAF could also make the idle unstable! That's a quick fix a can of spray.

I was actually awaiting your reply to my thread. I was thinking "hmm, when is 2013 going to give his input"

I have not had a chance to do those tests but the car shifts really good. I have a 2012 Lexus IS350 to compare, and they both shift great (even downshifts). So I am not sure if the 3qts drain and fill will do much. I will definitely start with MAF + Throttle body cleaning.

Some guys on the Lexus FB group said it might be the ECU.

I know what you're talking about. I think it may be loose brake bands in the transmission. There should be an adjustment for it somewhere

On some Toyotas, if transmission not serviced on time, will give that jolt, like if the converter is lagging unloading at the incorrect time.
The interesting part is you say the engine turned off, that is why I probably would not think it is the transmission.
