Default Good reasons not to buy intake?

I love my is350 but wished it made slightly more noise. So I am deciding whether or not to get an intake. I know an intake pipe that continues the use of the stock airbox would actually suck the coldest air, but I have a hard time justifying $150-200 on a pipe and panel filter especially when my main goal is noise. Is there any good reason not to buy a knock off intake with a cone filter? I know the intake temps will rise and I might need to clean the MAF more often. I even thought about wrapping the pipe with reflective heat tape to help get intake temps back down.

I wonder if the intake below could be cut down to use the stock airbox... Does the pipe alone really make any more noise than the plastic hose?

It looks like the cost of that is similar to good quality aftermarket systems, and its way more complicated to order. I would go with an aftermarket intake before the noise generator route.

Good point. I once did this to a car many years ago. I also added a 2.5" 90 degree elbow to the side of the airbox that extended into the fender well through a hole. I wonder if this would be possible with the IS. Hell, I might even get the cheap intake tube too.

Just delete your mufflers and cats, obviously the secondary's. C-note and you're done.
