Default Intermittent AirBag Light

I've discovered this strange solution to the problem but I'm looking something more permanent. If I get into the car shut the door and remain completely still from the point I press the start button to until the airbag check is complete then the light will go out. If I get in and press the start button then proceed to shut the door or move around in my seat the airbag light will remain on.

Disconnect battery, Pull the airbag connectors, put electrical connector grease on the connecters, reconnect, problem solved.

Check this connection out; move it around in an attempt to get it to "reseat" itself. Report back if it helps or not!

Just received a notice in the mail. Not a recall but a "customer support program notification". They will fix this issue until June 12 2020. Will cover the B1861 code.

Can you post a picture of the mailer? Does it apply to all 2IS’s?

Someone posted in another thread they received a similar letter in Canada for a warranty enhancement program W34. I'll give my dealer a call and see what they say. I think I'll have more luck knowing both markets have received some sort of communication in regards to this.

Usually I get stuck in a loop because I have US model vehicle in Canada. So some of these customer support programs are only available in the US and the local dealer won't perform them. I missed out on the dash replacement because of this.

It was Northwest Lexus. Did you ask about the W34 warranty enhancement program? I never ended up going in since the light went away on mine. It's possible the just booked the appointment for me but would have told me the same story once I actually went in.

On my car if someone move the passenger seat too far back the light will come on.
